im sure this is an unpopular opinion, but i think realbooru is a better site than rule34. sure, rule34 has more posts and activity, but i genuinely struggle to get turned on by anything i see on rule34. it's honestly more of a meme site than a porn site in my opinion. realbooru doesnt have that problem, so i like it more. it still isnt enough to cure my depression though...

Probably because you're not into drawn porn, but real porn. The biggest advantage of rule34 (and other hentai imageboards) is its community and the fact that someone is maintaining the site. As far as I know, realbooru is the only imageboard dedicated to real porn so even if the site doesn't work as it should, lacks features and practically no one participates in the forum or outside of it because there is no Discord server or anything like that, you won't be able to find a better alternative. Your opinion is very unpopular because, objectively speaking, rule34 simply works better as a website and as a community

Personally I think it's worse because there are so many more weirdos and bigots here than Rule 34, and trying to say anything against them gets your comment reported

That's probably another reason why there should be an alternative. Not necessarily the same size, but something with better communication between moderators and users

The moderators are active because they handle reports but the admins (the people who should actually be handling the technical aspects of realbooru) haven't been around for years. From what I've been able to trace through the forum, realbooru was initially created by one person and then someone else "took over" the project and since then not much has changed. In my opinion it's very sad to see that the website is so neglected. They don't seem to be short of money, so they could probably hire someone to fix this and that but I guess the rest of the world has simply forgotten about this website

what the hell are you talking about? this site has been around for 8 years, the AI slop plague didn't begin til 2022. I doubt that's the reason why they made this site in the first place

The site is also filled with horribly animated porn. Characters look like melting candles but move like jello.

Sucks you can upload something and get your post nuked....just for a bot to reupload it with no issue. Its only good if you are into futanari porn.

Yeah I think this website in essence is way better than all the other alternatives for real porn when it comes to archiving short clips etc. but the servers are just so slow it really sucks, I really wish someone actually active would take over eventually
